What We Believe

THE GREAT ENDS OF THE CHURCH

The great ends of the church are the proclamation of the gospel for the salvation of human kind; the shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God; the maintenance of divine worship; the preservation of the truth; the promotion of social righteousness; and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.

(The Book of Order:G-1.0200)

Our Faith

THE REFORMED TRADITION

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is part of the Reformed family of churches originating in the Swiss Reformation, whose greatest theologian was John Calvin. (1509-1564) John Knox, (1513-1572) the Scottish reformer, was responsible for the founding of the Church of Scotland, which is the Presbyterian Church.
